According to Vanguard Newspaper, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State announced on Sunday he will not attend a meeting organized by the Federal Government regarding the usage of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by State governors.
Governor Fayose has been highly critical of the TSA, denouncing “it as fraud against the Nigerian people”.
The Ekiti Governor is particularly critical of the electronic payment transfer company REMITA. The Nigerian government tasked REMITA with transferring all funds from the Federal budget to the State governments.
REMITA’s payment will be one percent of the total amount transferred. In a press release issued by Governor Fayose’s office, the governor called for transparency from REMITA and accused the Federal Government of using REMITA to divert funds to the reelection campaigns of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Bayelsa and Kogi States.
Governor Fayose also found fault in the Federal Government’s decision to use REMITA as the sole transaction company. His press release ended with the assertion that Ekiti State would not participate in the “TSA policy”.
